Much has happened since the first of the year 2011. Most of you know that since January Sandy and myself, with Rev. Charles Mulemena (New Life Center Director) have been in Florida visiting our partner churches and friends. It was without any doubt one of our best ministry itineration times in over twenty years of service. We will be visiting the northern states next year, but not in the winter months. We have blood in our veins, not antifreeze…ha!
We returned to Zambia in time for the annual Holy Spirit Encounter gathering at the New Life Center. We gather each year just after Easter. It was another wonderful time with the Lord! Evangelist Blake Lorenz and his team this year, J. Blake and Chris Bright, came again to help lead the HSE. This was his tenth year in coming! We are hoping to see him again later this year as well. All of our Nkaka District Zambian pastors and their families came, along with their church leaders. This year was a five day event with three sessions daily. By Sunday we had over 300 people here. It was a time of encouragement and vision. The Bible tells us:
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25.
That's exactly what the HSE is all about. A number of our pastors told us, "I was ready to give up, but now I'm going back to my church to fight the good fight". You cannot imagine what most of our pastor's living conditions are like. Many go without food. This is real pioneering work. All of the pastors we work with are my HEROS and worthy of all the help and encouragement WE (you & me) can give them.
Each year at the HSE we see re-dedication, first time salvations, true Holy Spirit annointings, healings, and miracles of all kinds. This year one of the miracles was an answer to my personal prayers for years. We have needed lay evangelist to go out and help our pastors and their churches. I have been praying for two or three people that I can work with and train. Part of the HSE teaching this year was "Making Zambia ready for Christ's return". We gave an alter call one night for, "Those that want to become evangelists". I was thinking maybe one or two people might come forward. There were 35 that actually came forward. Praise God! I could not believe my eyes. We prayed over them asking the Holy Spirit to fill their hearts with this important gift of leading others to Christ. By Sunday, when the HSE was over, more came and we now have forty-eight names on that list (group picture above).
I'm personally very excited about this and have started working on the materials for the many training sessions needed over the months to come. This will be called "Evangelism Encounter". Please pray with us that through this dear group of evangelists that many will come to Christ. Also pray that those going through the training will grow deeper in their understanding and love for God. Believe with us ALL for "one hundred fold" increase for the Kingdom of God.
Remember we love you. You are a very important link in what God is doing in Zambia. Thank you for staying faithful!
