The Holy Spirit Encounter is just hours away now and we have been gearing up and getting everything ready for that. We are looking forward to this special time with our pastors and church leaders. I’ll be sending more on this gathering in a few days. However, before that, let me tell you a few other things that have been happening here that you might find interesting.
For the last five weeks Mr. Carl Bergeson from Ocala First UMC, Florida has been here helping Sandy with teaching the sponsorship students in Chemistry & Physics. He’s one smart guy! However, we’ve had him doing a number of other things like preaching at a few Sunday services, helping with building and giving out PETs and getting involved in ministry as time from teaching permits. He has been sending out weekly newsletters to his friends and family with pictures that have meant something to him. I’ve posted these newsletters on the website. If you would like to read some of the insights of his time here in Zambia you can by CLICKING HERE.
The PET Zambia outreach has been sending PETs to the far corners of the country over the last few months. Some of these places are Kazembe, Ndola, Chipata and Kasama. We have been in Kasama ourselves for the last few days with Carl. We gave out 20 PETs to the Kasama Disabled Association. Pastor & DS Friday Nsofu was so very happy to see this take place. This was another wonderful time of meeting some really blessed people that needed a helping hand up. It’s been a great experience to call people out by name, pray for them, and ask God to lead them in health and give them a real purpose of life. The joy seen in their eyes and in their song tells the story… Take a minute and listen to their song...
Also, the PET distribution took place at a new Sister Church we put up a few weeks ago. This is the second one we have built outside of our Nkana district. This sister church was sponsored by Heritage UMC in Clearwater, Florida. Heritage UMC has sponsored three sister churches now. These churches are changing the future of the United Methodist Church in Zambia. For the first time in decades the Methodist Church of Zambia is moving out from old school rooms, under trees, and in old, rundown rented buildings. We have 80+ congregations throughout Zambia. This sister church in Kasama is the ninth one we’ve built in the last 12 years. God has given us a vision to build two sister churches each year. We would love for your church to consider this outreach as a possibility as well. You can find information about this on the website. Even better yet, just email us.
Please keep the Holy Spirit Encounter in prayer. It will be a four-day event this year and afterwards we are holding a two-day crusade at John Wesley Chapel in Chimwemwe. Many souls will be saved and set free from the strong holds of African life.
We continually want to thank each one of you who faithfully pray and support this ministry. It’s because of you that all of this can take place. May God truly bless you for your faithfulness.
Delbert & Sandy
